Dance Dance Revolution is a very interesting console game to play. You just follow arrows appear and stomp to the pad. There are 4 pads in the machine: left, down, up, right. The arrows also consist of the 4 types.
The game itself has three variants of difficulty: Basic, Trick, and Maniac. But, since the DDR MAX 1 appear in the year 2000, there are no longers basics, tricks, or maniacs. We call the difficulty level now by Light, Standard, and Heavy. Besides, you can measure the difficulty up by the footer a song has. Basicly, the easiest songs is ones which are 1-footers and the hardest ones is songs which are 10-footers. Since the 1st mix till the latest one 7th mix (DDRMAX 2), there are only 2 songs which are 10-footers: Max 300 (original of DDRMAX) and Maxx Unlimited (original of DDRMAX 2). However, Maxx Unlimited is much more difficult than Max 300.
The new upcoming DDR is the 8th mix called DDR EXTREME. It has been location-tested in Japan, but never yet been released. Due to the rumors, DDR EXTREME will have been released in Japan by January 2003. I think Indonesia will have had it by March or May 2003. Anyway, this mix has four 10-footer single songs: Bag, The Legend of Max, Paranoia Survivor 270, and Paranoia Survivor Max - and five 10-footer double songs: Bag, The Legend of Max, Paranoia Survivor 270, Paranoia Survivor Max, and Genom Screamers. It is really fantastic because of that.

If you live in the small town, it can be hardly find the DDRMAX, nor the DDR 5th mix or DDR 4th mix. The most popular version is DDR 3rd mix. I think DDR 3rd mix has represented all of DDR techniques. It has some easiest songs such as BYUL (basic) and Dam Dariram (basic) as well as the hardest ones like Paranoia Rebirth (maniac is 9-footer), Afronova (maniac is 9-footer), and Dead End (maniac is 9-footer). Should you want to try DDR for the first time, this mix can be really suitable.
However, Bandung has lots of DDR mixes such as DDR 3rd mix, DDR 4th mix, and DDRMAX 2. These are the places where you can find them.

DDR 3rd Mix
You can play also DDR 2nd mix in this machine. All you have to do is press the YELLOW BUTTON in the machine cabinet as ordered: Left - Left - Right - Right... do this before pressing the START BUTTON.
= left button, = start button, = right button
Besides, you can open the secret mode, i.e. Step Step Revolution (SSR). SSR is the most difficult mode in DDR 3rd mix. It consists of all the maniac songs. However, do this to open the secret mode: Left 3x - Right 3x - Left - Right... do this before pressing the START BUTTON. The arrows in this mode will have no color (the condition is called FLAT). To change the FLAT arrows into VIVID (colored) ones, stomp the arrow under your feet as ordered: Left - Right - Left - Left - Right - Right - Left - Right... do this before selecting a song and do it quickly.
DDR 4th Mix, DDR 4th Mix Plus, DDR 5th Mix
These DDR mixes are advanced mixes of DDR 3rd mix. If you understand how to play DDR 3rd mix, you won't find so many troubles of playing these mixes. So I think it's not necessary to explain these mixes. But if you get confused, just ask us here.
DDRMAX and DDRMAX 2
DDRMAX and DDRMAX 2 are the versions that was made friendly to them who are scorers. The differences to earlier mixes are extra stages, options, and freeze arrows.
Extra Stages---
In DDRMAX, it is Max 300. Max 300 only comes up when you get an AA in the final song (only for Heavy mode). Anyway, if you can passed the Max 300 (arrow speed = 1.5x, reverse, and started with full blood bar but it won't improve) with the grade AA, you'll get Candy Star (arrow speed = 3x, reverse, sudden death <means if you get even one GOOD or one BOO or one MISS or one N.G., you will automatically failed the song>).
In DDRMAX 2, the first extra stage is Maxx Unlimited. It must be played with 1.5x arrow speed, reverse, dark, and the blood operation likely the Max 300 extra stage. The 'Candy' for this mix is Kakumei. Anyhow in DDRMAX 2 you can find new mode, called Oni Mode / Challenge Mode. The difference is on the life you have while playing oni. In oni, blood is measured by battery. You can only have 3 good/boo/miss/N.G or less. Otherwise, you'll be failed.
Options---
What I meant by option is some new menu that you can find in DDRMAX, such as variant arrow speed, reverse, boost, dark, and else. You can try it yourself by opening to the menu. So how's the way? The way is by keep holding the start button just after selecting a song.
Freeze Arrow---
In DDRMAX, most of the songs have freeze arrow. This is kind of arrow which you need to keep holding.

Di "save as" aja txt-nya lalu dibuka pakai notepad, kalau dibuka pakai IE langsung format textnya nya berantakan (nyambung semua)..:D
